That's funny! And it comes in a timely manner. Last week I spoke to students in the creative writing program at Northeastern Ill. University about "The Mystery Of Story." I suggested that writing story is a mysterious, magical process; that the ancient Greeks had it right when they spoke of an immortal goddess, The Muse, whispering in the poet's ear; and I suggested that characters become so real for the reader as well as the writer that we weep at their loss, feel fear at their danger, and laugh at their mishaps.
