UnionBook

The social network for trade unionists - a LabourStart project.

Seattle City Council has a web site for citizens to submit ideas and vote on them.

Last week I submitted this idea:

"Tax the rich and corporate profits. The Mayor and the Council have no trouble going down to Olympia and demanding money when it is about pet projects (replace viaduct with tunnel etc.). Besides supporting I1098, we need to go down to Olympia to demand a stable revenue base for all and that means taxing those who extract wealth from the labors of others: big business and the super rich. Close loop holes to big corporations.

This would allow us to EXPAND city services at a time when they are needed more than ever. To EXPAND city jobs when more and more people are out of work.

The bosses created this crisis, why should regular folk have to pay for it?"

You can vote for it!

It got as high as 38 votes and then some pro-wealthy types got it down to 21 votes. Back up to 28 right now, but the debate in the comments continues.

Here's how to vote: Go to this site: http://seattlecitycouncil.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Tax-the-rich-and-corp...

In the upper right corner is a link to register. You register just with your email address. Then you can vote for it.

People that disagree with it can take votes away. So if you can, register and let the Council know they next to get revenue from the wealthy, not poor and working people!
