Sofina Foods Members Reject Company Offer by 91%

August 29, 2011

On August 28th Local 1518 members at Sofina Foods voted overwhelmingly to reject the company’s most recent offer, an offer which was not endorsed by the Union Negotiating Committee. Over 100 members participated in the Sunday afternoon meeting and vote, sending their employer a very strong message of support for their Union’s effort in negotiations.

The Union believes this Collective Agreement can and should be settled quickly if the employer has the will to work toward an agreement at the bargaining table. The Union Negotiating Committee (Dan McCullough, Andy Woellmer, & Al Stewart, assisted by James Raposo, Director of Negotiations) remains willing to return to the bargaining table at any time to bargain the last few improvements necessary to reach a negotiated settlement.

Contract talks are being mediated by the Labour Relations Board.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
