(PLF) Demanding Justice for Korean workers at Hyundai Kia Motors

(PLF) Demanding Justice for Korean workers at Hyundai Kia Motors

On behalf of the Executive Board of Pakistan Labour Federation (PLF) we are supporting the Demands of the Korean Metal Workers’ Union (KMWU) and demanding the Government of Korea to accept their demands for the regularization of workers and the abolishment of night shift work, which is causing serious danger to workers’ health. We are also supporting the unions action at Hyundai and Kia Motor. and demanding the company increase monthly wages and use 30 per cent of the company’s net profit to cover the performance-based bonuses scheme. we therefore appeal to the Government to respect the Korean Supreme Court decision in favour of a Hyundai Motor subcontract worker’s suit submitted back in 2005, ruling the worker be promoted to a permanent employee status, thus establishing a precedent for change in the Korean automotive industry, which currently makes extensive use of a subcontracted workforce to extract additional profits.
