Dear Mr Chifamba,
on behalf the Executive Board of Pakistan Labour Federation (PLF) we protest the unjust suspension of 135 workers indefinitely without pay and benefits as well as the anti-union actions of the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA). Your management's abuse of the internationally recognised core rights of your workers to organise and bargain collectively is unacceptable, and thousands of workers around the world are monitoring your actions as this case goes to hearings from 16 August onwards. Recent attempts by ZESA to trade off the reinstatement of suspended workers in exchange for workers abandoning the arbitration award is tantamount to economic blackmail and an attempt to intimidate workers to concede their rightful gains. we calls on your management to respect the arbitration award and give workers the wage increase due to them. And you must immediately reinstate all suspended workers with full pay and benefits. We also support calls that ZESA stops violating trade union rights and abandon attempts to prevent the President of ZEWU, Angeline Chitambo and two other elected officials of the union, Tariro Shumba and Dennis Mukote from carrying out their trade union leadership responsibilities.
An early action will be highly appreciated
with regards
(Haji Muhammad saeed Arain)
