 Pakistan Labour Federation (PLF) Organized a National Seminar on the Role of Trade Unions to promote Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women’s in Pakistan on 30th September,2012 at Hotel Ambassador Lahore Pakistan .with the collaboration of World Asian Workers Organization (WAWO).Mrs. Bushra Malik Advisor to Governor Punjab on Human Rights and Women’s Development was the chief Guest

Haji Muhammad Saeed Arian Founder/Secretary General welcomed the Participants and Chief Guest and  said that Poverty and feudal system are  major Obstacle to education especially among the Girls in Rural Areas and in one province many Girls Schools dismantle. The Gender gap is also wider for Girls in Rural Areas of Pakistan . He said that in Rural Areas women are mostly engaged in vulnerable work in agriculture. and they work more than 15houres and they have no right to farm their Trade Unions. He said that Healthy Trade Unions can play a positive role for the Gender Equality and  stop the violence and discrimination against working Women’s

Mrs Atia Saleem Chairperson Said that we should work for the redressed of Gender Discrimination and women’s should be provided 50% representation in the Parliaments She said that we are appreciated the decision of the Executive Board of (PLF) to enhance the Women’s representation from 33% to 50% in the main stream of (PLF) Ms Rizwana Yasmeen Advocate Senior Vice president (PLF) Secretary General All Pakistan Women’s Employees Association (Registered) Said that  we should work to enhanced and ensure for the equal treatment and opportunity for the women’s in all walk of life …. Mrs Shumalia Sadiq Secretary Women Wing Said that Government should implement all relevant International Instruments relation to Gender Equability in reference of  ILO Conventions 100 and ILO Convention 111.Waheed Ahmad Ch Legal Advisor (PLF) said that the Specific attention must be paid to young working women’s, He said that due to current  economic and social crises we should not be used an excuse to create even greater Gender inequalities or undermine the acquired  rights of Women’s. Mrs Bushra Malik said that the present Government had already working for the welfare and betterment of working women’s according to its commitment to Gender Equality and also working for the empowerment of women’s to participate effectively in all walk of life. She appreciated the Leadership of (PLF) for their decision to empowering working women’s to participate effectively in decision making with in (PLF) and educating working women’s on their rights and duty to strengthening efforts to eradicate barriers to women’s participation in Trade Unions. she also appreciated the (PLF) campaign to supports young working women’s individuality and collectively aims to achieve better working conditions. she announce her full cooperation and said that Government had already implemented the UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women’s Mrs. Zahida, Mrs. Tasneem,Mrs Samia Gul Khan,Mrs Semi khan,Rana Akram,Amin Bhatti,Malik Munir also addressed the Seminar
