Now, Hosted by the Chinese Unions, the WFTU and NEHAWU Remain Silent on Marikana?

Well, maybe they did consider Marikana, but it is not reported here. However one would like to know more about the Chinese state-approved International Trade Union Forum, whether the ITUC/Global Unions/ILO, also attended, and whether 'Respecting Labour and Protecting Workers Rights' addressed the frequent and gross disrespect of both in the hosting country. Or, for that matter, the ACFTU was challenged on its systematic failures to defend Chinese workers. And why NEHAWU was even present at this international Potemkin Village (for which see Wikipedia).

2012 International Trade Union Forum, Beijing China

The 2012 International Trade Union Forum held in Beijing China on August 28-30,2012 by ACFTU was entitled “Respecting Labour and Protecting workers rights”.

The WFTU participated in its works with a high level delegation headed by comrades Mahadevan and Swadesh Dev Roye, Deputy General Secretaries, comrade Abdulkarem Motajo, Member of the WFTU Presidential Council and Fikile
Majola, General Secretary of NEHAWU South Africa.

This is the 8th Forum in which participated 115 delegates representing more than 64 trade unions from 54 countries of the world.

On behalf of WFTU comrade Mahadevan addressed the Plenary session with a greeting speech.
