STATEMENT CONCERNING RECENT ANTI-ISLAMIC GRAFFITI TAGGING IN RENO NEIGHBORHOOD
There is no crime that the oppressors and their hirelings have not proven through the religious texts.
Class Oppression manifests itself in many forms. Religious, racial, sexist, economic,
militaristic and imperialist domination cannot be viewed separately,
or in isolation, as they are linked by the commonalities of their
origins, economic power and control, and their methods of
implementation by controlling the lives of the oppressed.
A century ago, the Industrial Workers of the World fought the prejudices that divided
the working class, whether of color, language, or religion. We
continue to assert that the ties which bind us all together as
producers count for so much more than the differences which our
exploiters use against us. This includes religion or the
absence thereof, which is, and should be, a matter of individual
conscience and belief.
We hold that the negative cultural paradigms internalized through tradition must be broken.
Further, we condemn social intolerance of any form and view the
perpetrators of such malevolence as adversaries of the working class.
