A leader of metal union in Korea burned himself to resist against government and police attack

A few hours ago, a leader of metal union in Kumi(southern area of Korea) try to kill himself by burning himself. Before he killed himself, he had a collective bargainning with the employer of KEC(Korean Electronic Corporation). After he finished the collective bargainning, police around the factory of KEC attack and try to arrest him.

Almost 3 months ago, workers of KEC went on strike for continuing collective agreement. The employer of KEC forced to worsen the agreement between union and company.

Now in Korea it's kind of trend to try to worsen collective agreement under president Lee MB. President Lee MB said two years ago in front of conglermerate, I' m 'business friendly'. President Lee MB hate labor union. Therefore he doesn't respect labor rights.

Today a leader try to keep workers of KEC, and he killed himself. It's really sad to me.

Please help KEC workers to keep their labor rights and collective agreement. Now almost 200 workers sit-in-struggle inside factory, inside factory there are a lot of dangerous and fatal chemical things. If police around factory attack the workers, everyone inside factory must be dead.

What a tragedy! If the situation in Korea is so worse, then the workers' organizations have to undergo a serious introspection and try to organize a powerful joint movement by mobilizing workers from all sectors to safeguard the workers' rights. Contemplating a people's movement is also worth trying.
