Quick impressions of Dutch Union's International Solidarity Conference

These are first and superficial impressions of the one-day event held October 30 by ABVA-KABO (the major Dutch public sector union). I have been a member since around 1973, have continued to pay my dues after retirement 11 years ago, but have been active only at such solidarity events.

Despite the imperfect English, this article suggests the increasing similarity under capitalist globalisation of the university and the factory, the student and the worker. Just one translation note: 'Keetwonen City' - the existence of which was unknown to me in The Hague (30-40km away) - means something like 'Chain Housing City'. Enough said.…
