STUFF AND NONSENSE

Hung Parliaments in OZ bring out the weird, the forgetful, liars, and other folk! Here we are on the advent of Spring in this beautiful Country and still no Government. But we're not dead or have been put up against the Wall! Oh, I wish, something to break the boredom.

The Biggest thing here is the cricket scandal enveloping the most noble of sports. They used to play it for honour once in the days of our Imperial British masters and good it was too!

But back to Politics.… Continue

Turkish UPS workers need short messages of solidarity tomorrow

Here's an appeal passed on to us by the International Transport Workers Federation tonight:

Dear friends,

During the Action Day tomorrow, on 1 September, TUMTIS will be holding a mass rally in Istanbul.

If you can send a short message, the union can read them out during the manifestation. I am sure that it will encourage the participants and especially those who have been unfairly dismissed over these months.

Make sure you mention your name, name of… Continue

Democratize stem cells! Democratize the bomb

There's too much information about stem cells. There is so much information that it's like having no information at all. Then throw in Google ads that let companies sell stem cell therapies, that scientists scream are fake, to us and what you have is utter confusion.

Things are so confusing that the International Society for Stem Cell…

Honduras: Something’s Not Right

The general strike is basically a weapon of last resort of the people in order to have their demands be heard. But even being a very broad movement is not enough to ensure its success, if it fails to impact the interests of the dominant class, especially in a country like Honduras, where the elites exercise absolute control over the state. Although a general strike requires a massive effort in terms of organization and training, the most fundamental aspect lies in the will to carry…

Job security and 'skills formation' in crisis and recovery - can bosses be trusted to make logical decisions?

Over the past couple of weeks there have been 2 Australian reports that highlight the disfunctional stupidity of the capitalist way of doing things.

A survey by a mob called Right Management discovered that Australian mining corporations lost 50% of the workers that they made redundant during the first 6 months of 2009. These workers sought and most obtained work in a different industry. This is how the Australian mining industry managed its labour force during the global…

A Community Union

Altering the sense of what a traditional labor union does into a new definition of something we call a Community Union, the TCWC envisions the entire community, countywide, as being

the proverbial ‘bargaining unit’. We are both upholding the ‘social contract’

as it presently exists with regards to worker/labor rights as well as…

WATCHING THE PAINT DRY!

Eight days after the OZ election! Still NO new Government. Julia Gillard continues in her caretaker role! Tony Abbott has finally put the Liberal Party Campaign Promises up for scrutiny by the Independents who will hold the balance of Power in whatever Government finally takes up the reins.

But he doesn't want to show me which upsets me a great deal. After all, I'm a subject of the Queen of Australia too! No it's not Kyle Minogue but Lizzy II, and that's another thing the latest polls… Continue
