Where Human Rights do not Include Labor Rights (the answer is in the spelling)!
Peter sez:
A crying scandal. But I don't think it necessarily applies to Amnesty International or other Non-US Human Rights bodies. I have a vague memory of AI publishing an expose on labour rights precisely in the USA. The other question is why this has to be raised 2012 by a journalist rather than the US unions over the last two-three decades.
Now read on...

Manitoba Federation of Labour v. Palestinians and Foreigners ('Dave', via Sid Shniad, Canada)
In the MFL Palestinians and foreigners are not people
I don't know sometimes why we bother. The Palestine resolution hit the floor with concurrence and BDS included. Only one person spoke against with the false premise that "Israel is the only middle eastern country with free trade unionism"...after a few interventions in support of the committee recommendation someone moved to refer back to committee because "this was controversial" and the "press will attack us".…

Another Israel is Possible (The Real News,USA)
Peter sez:
On the one hand there is the image of a normal Israel, as a Middle Eastern version of a Liberal-Democratic state, on the other there is something being born, an Israel which is talks about the one-percent and the 99-percent.
Is this what Real Democracy is beginning to look like?

BDS Provokes Response from Trade Union Friends of Israel, UK.
Peter sez:
Eric Lee, creator of UnionBook, LabourStart and TULIP (Trade Unions Linking Israel and Palestine), just posted a link to this item from TULIP. I thought it should be given a little more prominence.
Although I am no specialist on the Zionist history of Histadrut, I am quite impressed by the manner in which this pamphlet 1) manages to mention 'BDS' but once and 'Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions' not at all, and…

An Ecosocialist Position on Rio+20: Trade Union Movement Please Follow?
Representatives of governments from all the world will be present at the Rio+20 U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development, June 2012. What can we expect from this so-called “Earth Summit” from a social and ecological perspective? Nothing! Or, to be charitable, very little. This is not only due to the narrow-mindedness, greed, corruption, ignorance and selfishness of most of those…

Chicago Nurses Say: We Need a Robin Hood Tax!
National Nurses United(NNU) took up the cause of Robin Hood at Chicago’s downtown J.P. Morgan Chase building on June 19. With its merry band of tax reforming nurses, the NNU held a lunch hour rally to press for a financial transactions tax (FTT) or as it is more commonly called, a “Robin Hood Tax”. Chicago was among 15 cities where similar rallies were held.
Easily recognized by their red scrubs along with their Robin Hood hats and masks, NNU members described the Robin Hood tax in…
