Coordinated Actions
National Direct Action Coordination
We want to work collectively on this day of action with the participating occupations. Things such as national messaging and coordination will be worked out via conference calls and email. We hope that the organizing of this day of action can create a network of direct action committees that can collectively make national calls to action in the…

Peter sez:
Following up my WFTU article elsewhere in this blog, I found this exotic piece from a leading officer of the WFTU, Quim Boix (Catalonia, Spain), in which he, along the way, attacks the major Communist trade union centre in Spain, the CCOO! This is not the first time he has done this since he did it a few months previously when representing the WFTU (or Spain, or his own Catalonian union centre?) to an anniversary congress of the Communist CGTP in Peru.…

This is the fourth of eight articles on union organizing.
via www.laboreducator.org
This article is outstanding and a very helpful resource for union organizers at all stages. I think the most important thing is to not let scabs get in your way. Its tough out there, but unionists are strong.
"If unions are to grow, they'll need bigger, better and more successful organizing campaigns.…

I'm outraged about the latest right-wing scam! Indiana just became the 23rd state to adopt a "right-to-work" law. Now extremist politicians are pushing right to work wherever they can -- Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, and states around the country.
But right to work isn't about rights or work. In fact, right-to-work laws drive down job standards for all of us.
Will you join me in fighting back against this deceptive policy? We need to take a stand to…

Man wouldn't pay you unless he had to.
- Chris Rock
The antiunion movement in the United States keeps us underpaid and represents a serious impediment to economic growth. Yet antiunion sentiment remains strong among the political establishment and their patrons. Why?
Worker rights and a decent wage represent a toxic brew to the ruling…

This is a true, real piece of labor history, and Jack London I believe wrote really well and complex pieces. It sure makes me think.
THE SCAB
After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad, and the vampire, he had some awful substance left with which he made a scab.
A scab is a two-legged animal with a corkscrew soul, a water brain, a combination backbone of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles.
When a scab…
