Suresh thanks and please spread word to anyone travelling to Ireland that there are plenty of Fair Hotels that recognise unions and treat workers decently. Not many people passing women picketing O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel in city centre. Padraig
Hell Suresh - belatedly Happy New Year - I seem to have not been on UnionBook for ages. I am currently organising the Labour Day Dinner for the Trades & Labour Council of which I am the President. We are hopeful of having Ged Kearney who is President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions as our speaker and to also organise something for the day she comes to Wodonga. Her topic is 'precarious employment' as many people in Australia including 40% of the workforce in tertiary education are casual and therefore have little say in how they are employed and what they do and of course little security. As we will have a massive exit from the education workforce over the next ten years with people retiring it seems silly not to offer those people termed 'sessionals' permanenet positions so they can be trained to take on the jobs as they become available. Hope things are going well for you. Virginia
