Received a friend request from you---wondered how my name came up & any particular mutual affinities you may be seeing.
I am a 64-year old Community Health Worker with UFCW1518 employed by Richmond Community Home Support (of Vancouver Coastal Health Authority) in Richmond, BC (south of YVR /Vancouver International Airport.)
1998-2003 I was a Steward with BCGEU, on Executive of Local 403 & rep on Vancouver & District Labour Council. I attended & "graduated" from Labour College of Canada /CLC in Ottawa, 2002---thanks to a Jim Kinnaird Memorial Scholarship from the BC Federation of Labour.
I was a UFCW1518 Steward for a few years---but these days am usually content to do online activism & petition-signing. I'm particularly interested & concerned in international solidarity, campaigns for social justice & human rights defence/support via Amnesty International, LabourStart, AVAAZ, etc.
Closer to home---on Mon-Fri daily work front---I enjoy & take great pride & satisfaction in delivering first-class personal care (with a lot of shower/dressing assistance for men) plus home support (including some meal prep) to a regular roster of mostly-elder clients.
I am a retired staff member of UFCW Local 1105 in Seattle. I have written a book about a strike of thousands of UFCW grocery workers in 1989--81 days. The Union won against corporate greed! I live in Lynnwood, WA near Seattle. Happy to be your friend. In solidarity,
