SUNY Downstate 100million unaccounted for by NY Comptrollers Office.

SUNY Downstate Union Meeting Notes: The President of the Downstate union chapter lead the meeting. She indicated a peliminary part of the state comptrollers audit of SUNY Downstate is showing $100 million unaccounted for! Think about that. Where is the AG? Anyone want to look into this? A question was raised about Downstate loosing $10 million per month. The workers at LICH are private employees hired by not for profit Staffco. So they and any losses they incur should be on Staffco books. Is…See More

PEF Update 2012

PEF UPDATEDecember 2012Over the past few months the over riding concern of most Downstate employees has been whether ornot the hospital would stay open and/or what sort of downsizing would occur. We are all upset overthe almost 400 non renewal notices that have already gone out to UUP employees and the expected 600layoffs that may occur in the near future. However, PEF now thinks that we know what Management'splan for University Hospital is and we will be working to stop them from succeeding. It…See More

SUNY Downstate more layoffs and more senior management in the face of layoffs

The rumor is the Chancellor of SUNY has approved more layoffs at University Hospital at SUNY Downstate. They are called Retrenchments which basically means departments in the hospital are closing. That is basically the end. Once the departments are closed down the poor patients in the area will be forced to go elsewhere. There is still a small chance the Governor may come up with some more money but looks bad. Meanwhile, new Downstate President has hired another senior advisor from his old…See More

Baddog, I still have a restraining order for the next 6 months at LICH. But NOT at Downstate. I will be out there soon helping rebuild the movement that Rowena is trying to throttle into useless activity. WE are pushing to build a march ion the community to drum up more support so we can turn the heat up on the hospital bosses. Trips to Albany are really a waste of time. Unless we gain an upper hand on the local boss at Downstate and build defiance to his intimidation, the movement will shrink into insignificance. Blackman is afraid to take on the local boss or has cut  a deal with them to guarantee her own future success at the expense of the members. We have to think big and push the envelope. It alll depends on the strength of our relations with the most advanced workers, those willing to fight back and become organizers.

Thanks my man.  I don't expect much from either of them. They are scared of the bosses. Meanwhile my petitions are still circulating. Hope to meet you real soon brother. I am sitting at home retired and now due to the restraining order can give a little boost to your struggle there at Downstate.  I feel hog tied.

Some 100 UUP members and and 100 CSEA members signed petitions on my behalf demanding that criminal charges filed against me be dropped. The CSEA union leader has helped in this effort . Is there any way you as a UUP member may influence the U.U.P. leadership to take up the cudgel and do like wise on my behalf? It would be an act of solidarity that could greatly influence the d.a. office in getting these charges thrown out. Make no mistake about it. What they did to me was an act of intimidation , not only to me but to all Downstate and LICH workers. Please give this serious consideration and  communicate with me when you decide one way or another. You can leave a private message for me.
