Obama's advice to students--- quietly suffer.

Obama advises students to patiently work in silence as Wall Street profits from wars and the rest of our problems... President Barack Obama gave the commencement address to the graduating class of the Ohio State University at Ohio Stadium on May 5, 2013 in Columbus, Ohio. "I dare you, Class of 2013, to do better. I dare you to do better," Obama said. Obama also urged the students to "reject these voices" that warn of the evils of government, saying: "Still, you'll hear voices that…See More

United action in the streets and at the polls.

Several groups are discussing coming together here in the United States around some very basic problems intending to work together on activities in the streets and at the ballot box. These are some of the points for united action being discussed: 1. End these dirty wars and use the “peace dividends” to fund human needs.2. Full employment; make the president and Congress legislatively responsible for attaining and maintaining full employment.3. Real health care reform--- single-payer universal…See More

Let's talk about the politics and economics of livelihood for a real change...

Wall Street created this economic mess. Working people had no part in the decision-making process and now these Wall Street coupon clippers and their gang in the G-8/G-20 want to place the burden of solving this capitalist economic crisis on the back of the working class while making more profits, to boot. The capitalist way of doing things has to end; the time has come for working people to consider the socialist solution as we struggle for universal reforms based upon the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights which provides us with the basis for international solidarity and united action... it is time to take these words off of pieces of paper and make them a living reality for all working people across the globe which will require these dirty imperialist wars and this insanity of militarism to come to an end so we have the resources available to solve the problems being experienced by working people--- if this alone won't do the trick then we need to tax the hell out of the rich because it is the working class which has created all this wealth with a little help from Mother Nature which these capitalist vultures treat with the same disrespect and disregard shown to working people. Capitalism is complete insanity; it has to be eliminated. The time has come to put the needs of people before profits. Anyone with an ounce of common sense understands that the only way to put the unemployed back to work is to re-open all the mines, mills and factories now sitiing idle and closed and start production up again producing for the needs of the people and the requirements of society--- solving the problems of the working people will create tens of millions of jobs across the globe.

Tell the politicians:

No peace; no votes.
No jobs; no votes.

In a democracy this is called: accountability.

In the United States, a socialized health care system would create around ten-million new, good jobs while providing the American people with free, quality health care. What do we get instead of community public health care centers out of this rotten government? Over 800 U.S. foreign military bases circling the globe with tax-payers picking up the tab to protect Wall Street's interests.

My thoughts for the day.

Yours in struggle and solidarity,

Alan

Couldn't agree more Alan with your comments about Wall Street - is the same the world over with the rich being given 'welfare' at the expense of the workers and the poor. Seems that unless people stand together then it will be more of the same whoever is in power...Virginia

Hi Alan, my union, the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka (NUSS) is going to have a website designed for for us and the responsibility of creating a motto (Payoff line), vision and mission statements and doing a write-up about the union has fallen on my shoulders. Could you help? For Motto I have in mind " PROTECTING THE SRI LANKAN SEAFARER GLOBALLY". The NUSS is affiliated with ITF and is the only union dedicated to organizing, fighting for and defending the rights of seafarers. The NUSS also stand for decent work for Sri Lankan seafarers and also work towards their social protection, welfare and dignity. The NUSS is also committed to preventing marine pollution and reducing the carbon footprint of global shipping (sustainable/green shipping). Bandula
