About me

Long-time Active Union Electrical Worker

I've been a union member for more decades than I would usually claim <grin>.  I also served as a union organizer, president of my local, a delegate to our International Conventions, a delegate to the ABA convention, continue to be a student of labor history, and I remain active on the Internet (when I have access).

Community and Union Organizer

I'm a union electrician and worked for years as both a community and union activist.  In the past, I worked in many community activities in Cincinnati, including The Cincinnati Free Clinic, Over the Rhine Community Council, Cincinnati Switchboard, WAIF-FM/Stepchild Radio, Model Cities, HUB Services, The Independent Eye magazine, the Cystic Fibrosis Bingo, and many other causes.  With Mike Avey, I set up the Boiling Point labor radio program(Saturdays 11:00 to noon EST on WAIF --  88.3 FM), one of the longest-running labor radio programs in the United States.

The Electrical Industry Heritage Preservation Project

My most important current project is the Electrical Industry Heritage Preservation Project, which attempts to preserve electrical and union materials for future generations.

Publications

I have written for a number of publications, and served as an editor of two newspaper/magazines: The Independent Eye, and the New York Law School Reporter.  I've written or served as a moderator for several websites and currently edit a forum on labor law for IBEWMinuteman and a forum on union stewards at IBEWFriendsandFamily.
