Thought I had better join this group, folks, even though I have been posting CC items on my own blog for some time.

I am also wondering about the easiest way for UB members, group members or group coordinators to shift items from - for example - my blog to this blog.

I have never tried this so it may be a dumb question...

The food store pople gotta live , we aint abolished money yet!  One would think that we will have to get organized before we can take down capitalism and the monetary system but....... who knows? We must just witness a capitalist crumble and society go into free fall anarchism [the negative type].  The Global Strike 2012 is part of the proccess of getting organised and also promoting the concept of a money free, resource based economy.  May we all hasten that day!

Nick you have to help me out on this.  I went to the food store and told them I was with the campaign to end wage labor and abolish money and they refused to help me out with some food.

I think your jumping the gun. First abolish the right of big capital to control the economy through the socialization of all the major industries under workers control...then we get the opportunity to organize a planned economy without money and wage labor.

May our discussions hasten the day!

We dont want to be slaves to wage labour, We dont wish to be explioted. We wish for freedom and equality. Freedom and equality cannot be achieved within a capitalist system . We urge all people to resist and reject capitalism. We wish all people to realise that expliotation of natural resouces to create consumer products will only create more environmental degradation.

We will not plead to the capitalists for wage labour , we demand our freedom from wage labour.

http://www.unionbook.org/group/strike2012   Hi we wish solidarity to all beings.  Money and the nation states prevent our true solidarity, causing wars , environmental degradation, poverty and social inequality. On this note we invite and urge all people to support the Global Strike to Abolish Money

Campaign against Climate Change UK

Get your MP to demand a 'Zero Carbon Britain' by 2030

Support the Climate Emergency EDM

An EDM or “Early Day Motion” is a statement made by an MP that other MPs are able to support by adding their names to it. Sometimes they are the beginning of something that becomes an Act of Parliament but usually they are just a way of demonstrating support among MPs for positions on important issues etc…

The Climate Emergency EDM is EDM 853, tabled by John Mcdonnell MP.

It is a revised version of the 'Climate Emergency' EDM put forward by Colin Channon MP, last October 2009 originally as EDM 2057 and retabled for the new year as EDM 189. . EDM 853 includes the main current demands of the Campaign against Climate Change - including a Zero Carbon Britain by 2030 and One million Climate Jobs in one year - that we will be taking to the forthcoming National Climate March.(make sure this is in your diary !)

The EDM reads as follows :

“That this House recognises that there is a climate emergency and that the catastrophic destabilisation of the global climate represents one of the greatest threats that humanity faces; further recognises that there is a need to reduce the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide to 350 parts per million or below; further believes it is impossible to predict how close the world is to dangerous tipping points, and that immediate action is required to enact a programme of emergency measures with substantial emissions reductions in the short term of the order of 10 per cent. within one year, with a longer-term goal of achieving a Zero Carbon Britain by 2030; further believes that at least two hours of prime time television per week should be used to explain the gravity of the crisis to the public, that domestic flights should be phased out, a speed limit of 55 miles per hour introduced and unabated coal usage reduced; further believes that investment in greening the economy can be an effective way of reviving the economy and,in that spirit, urgent investment should be made in energy efficiency and renewable energy, public transport and the retro-fitting of efficient insulation to existing housing stock, leading to the creation of a million green jobs within one year; and further believes that the introduction of such measures would send a positive signal to other countries in the negotiations for an international emissions reductions treaty.”

If you live in the UK you can support this EDM by writing to your own MP and asking him or her to support it. You can find out which MPs have so far signed it by going here. If you do this it would be great if you could also let us know at info@campaigncc.org Please ask your MP to sign it even if they signed the earlier EDM (as either EDM 2057 or EDM 189 ). We need to keep the pressure up as much as we are able - and not let MPs forget the urgency of the Climate Emergency. If your MP has already signed EDM 853 please write to them to congratulate them for doing that !

We also have postcards to send to your MP ( email us at info@campaigncc.org if you would like some) - although writing to them in your own words is probably even better. However, the postcards are a great way of encouraging other people to write to their MP. You can find out who your MP is at www.writetothem.com

Emailing your MP is good, writing to them is even better, going to actually see them at their surgery and encouraging them to sign the EDM is yet better still! And if they have signed why not write to your local paper noting the fact and congratulating them: "Our MP realises that a Zero Carbon Bitain by 2030 is a real, positive, and achievable goal .....that will also result in the creation of a multiplicity of climate jobs ...etc...etc.." ...or however you want to say it ........ Or write to your local newspaper demanding your MP does sign...and why.....
See futher http://www.campaigncc.org/climateemergencycampaign

Finally dont forget to join us on the streets to demand a Zero Carbon Britain, on 4th December !

And thanks for all you do in support of EDM 853 !

The resolution on climate change passed at TUC conference on Wednesday was proposed by Prospect and seconded by the CWU. The Morning Star reported on this discussion. PCS have also reported on it. The TUC position supports the campaign for a million climate jobs. It also raises the question of carbon trading, which is contentious and might be a good subject for a discussion forum. What do people think?
