Yes - I think it's really important to pose the question of transition to a low carbon economy in a way that emphasises how this can transform communities in a positive way, that trade unions can help to ensure ordinary working people are not made to suffer for the changes we need to make and that decisions about this are taken in a democratic and transparent way and not imposed from above.

Yes, I think action to promote real green jobs, not the recent surge of the corporations to use the "green" label to cut jobs and improve profits, is an idea that is very workable and that the general public can understand and support as well.

The trade union group within the UK Campaign Against Climate Change recently published a pamphlet, One million climate jobs NOW! Its website includes an account of a speech given by one of the pamphlet's contributors,.... Read her account of how the trade union movement can campaign for viable economic solutions to the environmental crisis we are facing.
