Hi. Yes, we have a pretty strong set of data (about 6000 unions, not counting locals), along with sectors, contact details, membership numbers etc. We're looking to match this up with data on the TNCs represented. Will probably be doing so one TNC at a time, as I am not aware of anybody having done this before. At present we just want one example to test the technical side of the database. eg which unions around the world have members in Tescos?

Peter,
I am the administrator of this page for SIGTUR and are base in Australia. Firestone does not have operation in Australia to my knowledge. I am assuming Firestone is a Tyre manufacture. Can i suggest that you send an email to this group. See the tab top right. Is this data base very broad in its application?

The New unionism Network has set up a global unions database -- http://www.younionize.info -- to help union organizers/workers in networking across borders. We're currently looking to add data on TNCs to union records. This is so that (for instance) a union organizer/worker for Firestone in the USA can find out who the sister union(s) are in South East Asia, Africa etc, (along with contact details and a bit of a union profile, etc etc). As a test run. we're looking fopr sample data on one major TNC. Can anyone help? (eg with a list of unions who have a significant number of workers in Firestone).
