Does anyone know anything about Olam International?
They are a multi-national food processing and food ingredient producer, based in Singapore.
They have recently been purchasing food processing facilities in California.
Are any Olam facilities unionized elsewhere? Do they have a labor relations history?

There's nothing on the website of the global union federation for food workers, the IUF - see here:

Hi Fritz,

Firstly this information has been provided to me by our national federal secretary from our food division. Any specific's i am happy to try and assist.

Olam is not actually a food manufacturer but is an investment company operating out of Singapore. They have invested in a number of food plants in New Zealand, predominently in the dairy and meat sector. I suppose they are more along the lines of private equity. The New Zealanders have advised that many problems have followed where this particular firm has invested.

Olam International _ Singapore

Bought food producing companies from Conagra in USA
NZ dairy

Olam Investments Australia

Has bought into almond growing in Aust,

Olam Australia Pty Ltd

Has bought into cotton in Qld

As you can see from the New Zealand experience thing have not been positive. Not shore if this assists.
Can you give me contact info for the NZ local unions? I am very interested in knowing what kinds of issues came up. This Company just bought a food processing facility represented by our Local Union in California.
My e-mail address is fgconle@gmail.com

Thanks very much for your help! In solidarity, Fritz Conle
