Friends:
I'd like to start a discussion about tools available to labor educators. I am interested in learning about books, training CDs and videos and other tools that have the potential of broad use throughout the movement.
I started Union Communication Services in the U.S. nearly 30 years ago "to provide information and ammunition" to labor activists; for several years now we've been the bookseller partner to LabourStart. You can see what we do, including our catalog of 150 union- and activist-building books, at www.unionist.com Our basic mission is to put info and ammunition in the hands of unionists today that can be put to practical use tomorrow. Our catalog shies away from theoretical, union-specific and trade-specific material.
If you know of anything that might fit this model I'd very much appreciate hearing about it. I'm particularly interested in steward and local union officer training and day-to-day survival techniques.
In unity
David Prosten
