The social network for trade unionists - a LabourStart project.

To labour educators internationally,

The UK-based Critical Labour Studies (CLS) is a network of trade union activists and academics who have come together to share and analyse evidence and material of the major challenges to organised labour. Each year the CLS conference provides a major international opportunity for labour movement peers to come together and debate in a supportive environment those issues of concern and interest.

It has just been agreed that next year the CLS conference will be hosted by Ruskin College, Oxford, one of the oldest labour movement colleges in the UK and internationally. 2013 is the ten year anniversary for  CLS and the first year that Ruskin will have moved from its originally 1899 location to a new base just outside central Oxford.

The 2013 will also be special as it will have a specific focus on labour education as out-going students (pictured) of Ruskin's MA in international labour and trade union studies (ILTUS) will be presenting papers based on findings/analysis from their dissertations. More detail of the MA is here: http://issuu.com/mailtus/docs/ma_iltus_outlined

Given this labour education focus I am writing in this forum to ask if as a labour/trade union educator you also would be prepared to attend CLS 2013 to talk about our work?

More detail of CLS 2013 (2-3 March 2013) will appear on the CLS website soon, as will detail of how to register to attend and/or to present a paper. Details will be here: http://criticallabourstudies.org.uk/site/

If you have any queries about CLS 2013, Ruskin or the ILTUS MA please let me know.

Hello Ian Manborde,

Is Ms. Helen Kidd who taught English and Creative Writing at Ruskin College still teaching there? If she is, please convey my regards to her. The thing is, she is less active on Facebook and in her email account. I happen to be a friend of hers from Sri Lanka.
