I can see from your new profile pic that you've done your bit in getting a new member for today!

A good prompt for everyone.

1. I'll start now by tweeting an invite out.

2. Later today I'll add some links to UnionBook from a campaign website I'm making (and vice versa).

3. and then I'll have a think what I can do tomorrow!

Everyday I try to do something, and I think I have recruited soem of my collegues. I think there are several ways of recruiting members to Unionbook. That is, as many members have done, to start groups that people feel that are useful, both as a way to get information, and to increase your own knowledge.
One very relevant group for people working in public sector are the one on NPM, called counter NPM-strategies. Everyday when I see something of interest on Unionbook, I forward it on our maillist at work. Some respond and some don't. But for sure I know I can do more.

So far, I have written an article for the CWU Education website www.cwueducation.org, emailed invites to colleagues and friends and told students on courses at our union education centre about the site. I think that this has produced fairly good results as the number of CWU(UK) people on there has grown -probably 10 that I invited have joined. We have also publicised this with trade union comrades in the Philippines.

What am I going to do today? Email the link to the Keep the Post Public Group to our Communications Department. Email the link to the new Union Safety Group to our Health and Safety department to cascade to CWU health and safety reps.

5000 by the end of 2010 is not an unrealistic target but change the horrible background peach/flesh colour please Eric - it looks awful!

I am promoting Unionbook as facebook without 'what people had for their tea', and as the way to reach a trade union activist audience with one click.

October 6th.
I moderate 5 Yahoo egroups for transport workers in the UK, about 600+ members, and so today I sent around information about UnionBook and suggested that they take a look at the site and join.

Another thing that could freshen up the home page is to regularly change the featured groups - they have been very static for some time.

It's easy to do click on the badge on the UnionBook page. Copy and embed the code to your website.

I posted about UnionBook on my and my band's Facebook pages, and I posted it on the band's Twitter account. At least 2 people have joined as a result; hopefully, more will follow.

I frequent several online forums as well, so I'll be posting about Union Book there, too.

Let's do this!!!

I regularly tell others about UnionBook and encourage them to join. I also regularly request that the union I belong to put a link to UnionBook on the union website- no success so far, but I will keep requesting it. I find that the interest groups on UnionBook and the campaign links are good recruiting incentives. I'll try my best to think of more ideas.

I forwarded the news that had appeared in the press about the Unionbook to the major national web portals which are followed by many union staff and rank&file members

Keep posting the groups I formed, blog posts I added etc. to the facebook pages of those portals.

Emailed my unionist contacts about the Unionbook.

As website editor of www.unionsafety.eu I receive the news feeds provided by Labour Start totally free!!

So the least I can do is promote UnionBook on our website.

This has been done in two ways: 1 Added a news item which will remain on the site for approx 3weeks, and 2 added the UnionBook logo with a link to the home page of the website.

 

It would be great if every member of UnionBook who is a website editor, could do a similar thing to boost publicity for UnionBook.
