Orkut is the facebook of India and Brazil. It has about 100 million users world-wide, compared to FB 500 million. 48.0% of Orkut's users are from Brazil, followed by India with 39.2% and United States with 2.2%. It is owned by Google, but run out of Brazil.

We shouldn't overlook Orkut in building LabourStart, Act Now campaigns, and Union book.

Day before yesterday I went through my e-dress book and selected maybe 50 to send the invitation to.

I was wondering whether UB has the capacity to record the invitations we send out and even any follow up affiliations. Sounds like a special piece of additional software but....?

Hi folks. I've been sending word out via the New Unionism Network mailing list and website, plus various people from my own personal address book. I must say UnionBook's Invite/'import address book' function works really well. Looking forward to the day when we start using it for specific multinational-centered discussion. eg the WalMart group, inititated by employees. This would be a good way to get that exponential growth happening.

Hi guys, I'm in favor of UB but people around me all speak french, the ones that also speak english, will mainly use english when it's not otherwise possible to communicate ( but of course they can communicate in french all day long).

other more private issue, i'm concerned about risk factors:
the name UB to be attacked by facebook
ning closing the line
eric not being in a position to continue
etc...
that's for my input.

A Suggestion: Most Unions have websites, though in the States they seem a bit static and not very flexible. One thing they usually have is a "contact us" button. My Union now is the IWW, and it has its own Facebook page as well as a group here. I've mentioned Union Book to fellow Wobblies, and am going to post a notice on the FB page, also. My old Union is the IAM (Machinists) and their website is not as interactive, but I'm going to give it a shot. If only one person picks up on it, that's to the good, right? Solidarity.

Apart from individual initiative, UNIONBOOK can ask all the existing members to provide five email addresses and Union Book can invite them directly to join Union Book. The email invite may contain detail about the source of email id information, so as to assure the recipient that the invitation mail is not a SPAM. On my part I provide herein below FIVE email addresses.
