Here are two websites that provide ongoing coverage from Madison:

The Wisconsin Protest Wave

And here's a message I was forwarded about ways to support the continued occupation of the Capitol. You can also support the IWW's Madison fund here: http://store.iww.org/madison-donations.html:

THE BATTLE FOR UNIONS IN WISCONSIN

  HOW YOU CAN HELP

 Folks from outside Wisconsin are contacting me and asking how to help with the battle to save collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin.   (Additional information on the current status of things here is at the end of this letter.)

 YOU CAN PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT

 People of generally modest means, including many college students, are continuing the occupation of the Capitol and the daily picketing in resistance to the Governor's plans. Most teachers have had to/have chosen to return to their classrooms, but many other union members remain, people from private sector unions and public unions including police and firefighters.  There are many private citizens, often seniors.  Those remaining in the capitol and on the picket lines need food, water, transportation, housing. The Wisconsin AFL-CIO is coordinating much of that support. No matter how small, financial support is welcome:

 ONLINE:  The AFL-CIO is accepting donations online through PayPal or any major credit card. Please go to  http://wisaflcio.org /a>http://wisaflcio.org/>   for the link.

 CHECKS can be made payable to the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO Defense Fund, 6333 W. Blue Mound Rd., Milwaukee, WI 53213 (Please indicate the purpose, e.g. "Capitol protests" or "Madison rally", on your check.)

CONFIDENCE…A Photo Diary of Today’s Amazing “Reclaim Wisconsin” Ral...

Original source: dailykos.com

by Giles Goat Boy

I mentioned to a couple people today that after the FitzWalkerstan reign is over and we can go back to being civil, forward-thinking Wisconsin, we will spend the rest of our lives processing all the incredible events that have happened to us. For now, all we can do is ride the wave and try to make sense of it all later.

OneYearLonger021112 057

The word that kept running through my head on this unseasonably warm and wonderfully windy day was CONFIDENCE. Confidence was in abundance at the Reclaim Wisconsin rally organized to remember the one year anniversary of Wisconsin’s notorious, union-busting Act 10 being passed by the state Assembly. It had been passed by the state Senate the night before.

OneYearLonger021112 079

At this time last year, we were angry and disgusted, but hopeful. We knew we had work ahead of us but exactly what that work would be remained unclear. We were energetic but not 100% confident that we could overcome what had been done to our state. Eventually the anger and adrenaline transformed into a statewide campaign to recall as many Republican back-stabbers as we could. Continue reading

Marin, it is a sad truth, that the greatest enemy of the labor movement beside the the bosses and their capitalist system is the so-called "leadership" of the labor unions. In New York City not one of these locals is doing anything other than giving lip-service to the rank-and-file surge in Wisconsin. In fact this leadership has done nothing all over this country but to try to misdirect the struggle. It should have been a general strike, that is what the workers wanted, but instead these servants of capital only pushed the dead-end of recall of the Republican legislators instead of direct action that would have strengthened our unity and and started a large mass movement to challenge the capitalists stranglehold over our lives. The only thing I tell you right now is that hospital workers at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn are fighting for their jobs with mini-strikes and marches throughout the Brownsville community and to  alimited extent bypassing the 1199 sellouts who are helping Governor Cuomo make budget cuts that will cost worker's jobs. George Gresham 1199 SEIU Health Care Workers East President or should I say  CEO , sits on  a state commission with Cuomo's people to help make Medicaid and education cuts. He is a traitor to our class and derves to be hung by a lamp post.. But the workers fight on and are instinctively seeking leadership that will lead us beyond the treadmill of reform. Be happy to keep you informed you have permission to email me for more details if you choose

Wisconsin Recall Gets Underway On TuesdayThe political future of six GOP senators will be on the line Tuesday as voters head to the polls for Wisconsin's recall election. But the turnout

may also shed light on two other important issues: The future of Gov.

Scott Walker's controversial political agenda and how voters are feeling going into the 2012 national elections.

Ben Betz: "Elect Democrats who will stand up to the corporatist right-wing agenda ... And stop the war on working families."

But there is no evidence that they will do that either. The Democratic Party is an obstacle to working-class political independence. Build a labor party you can own when it's in power.

Here is an article on the events in Wisconsin three months after the protests began (June 7th, 2011). It was written by an activist in Madison with the US leftist group Solidarity. Wisconsin: Three Months Later

Earlier this year, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker led an assault on the fundamental rights of workers in his state. That attack, along with his campaign to scapegoat state employees for economic shortfalls while at the same time pursuing hundreds of millions of dollars in tax giveaways for his wealthy corporate backers, was quickly copied by right-wing governors in other states and celebrated by Republicans in the halls of Congress.

The people of Wisconsin rose up. Democrats in the State Senate went above and beyond in their efforts to stop the right-wing assault. However, Gov. Walker's allies in the Senate used sneaky backdoor -- and possibly illegal -- tactics to ram through the governor's plan. Now, six of those Republican senators are on the ballot this summer for a recall election ... we're going to show them the consequence of their actions, and in the process, give pause to right-wing lawmakers in every state and in Washington who embrace a destructive anti-middle class, pro-corporate agenda.

Our campaign plan is rock solid ... and scalable, which means that there is room for expansion if we are able to attract enough resources. The mission is pretty clear:
DEFEAT at least three out of six Republican incumbents;

DEFEND the three Democratic incumbents facing recall challenges from the Right;

FLIP control of the Senate away from Gov. Walker's right-wing allies and give the PEOPLE of Wisconsin a voice in their government ... then on to the next fights.
I'll tell you how we're going to get there. Join me for the telebriefing this Tuesday.

Hope to hear from you.
