Macy's Asks For A Boycott
You might be thinking to yourself: Really? Macy's actually asked to be boycotted?! Well, yes. Pretty much.
Before Thanksgiving, dozens of Macy’s cardholders joined me at Macy’s Herald Square store in New York City to deliver our petition

  • Cancel your Macy's credit card. Be sure to let them know that you're canceling because of Macy's support of Donald Trump.
Next week, I'll share the next big steps in the Dump Trump Effort along with a website that you'll be able to go to for timely and regular updates (and so that I won't have to keep sending you these emails).
Thanks so much for your participation. Your efforts are having an effect. Now, we just need some persistence.
Onward!

Best,

New evidence shows Walmart fought measures that could have prevented 112 workers from dying in a Bangladesh factory fire two weeks ago.

Tell Walmart it must join an independent fire safety inspection program to prevent tragedies like this.

Sign the petition.

We must invest in America’s future, create jobs and grow the economy.
Our priorities are clear: Jobs & Economic Growth, End the war in Afghanistan now, and substantial cuts to runaway Pentagon spending.
SEND THIS MESSAGE TO THE CONGRESS AND THE PRESIDENT Click Here to Sign the Jobs Not Wars Petition.
Keep the pressure on – remind Congress and President Obama that they work for the American people.

This Thursday at 12 outside of Daley Plaza there will be a Durbinville Shantytown that will be erected in order to pressure Durbin to stop the extension of the bush tax cuts, the budget cuts, and to preserve vital safety net programs like Social Security and Medicare. Budget cuts effect all of us especially in regards to fighting for quality education in Chicago's local schools. Cutting budgets in education would take us steps back in all the hard work we've put in for fighting for quality education

The majority of us in the United States have favored withdrawing the U.S. military from Afghanistan for years now. Our voices are breaking through.
The media credit President Obama with "ending" the war over a period longer than the full duration of most wars, a period to be followed by the ongoing presence of possibly 10,000 troops after the war has "ended."
That's not good enough. The Senate has now said so, passing a resolution urging faster withdrawal.
In the House, Congresswoman Barbara Lee is collecting her colleagues' signatures on a letter to the President urging withdrawal and reminding him that any long-term commitment of troops requires Congressional authorization. Please ask your Representative and Senators to sign the letter.
Please forward this email widely to like-minded friends.

TAKE ACTION! The Time To Clean Up Cement Plants Is Now Take action today!

The EPA has set forth strong protections in the past, bolstered by the strong show of support from committed activists like yourself. We can do this again.
Take Action Today!

In August 2010—thanks to hardworking activists like you—the EPA adopted the first federal air pollution limits for more than 100 cement plants across the country. These rules would limit mercury and other toxic air pollution from some of our nation’s dirtiest sources; cement plants would need to clean up their smokestacks by 2013.

But this summer, the EPA caved to pressure from the cement industry, proposing to allow the plants two additional years to clean up their pollution. The agency admits that the delay would result in up to 5,000 premature deaths and thousands of heart attacks, asthma attacks and hospital visits. The EPA wants to finalize its new plan by Dec. 20.

We’re asking you to once again demand clean air from cement plants.

Let the White House know that EPA’s plan to allow more deaths, more illness and more pollution is not acceptable. Tell them to keep the strong health protections and stand up to the polluters.

Jordan Russell Davis didn't have to die.

Last Friday, the 17 year-old Black teenager was shot in a Jacksonville convenience store parking lot after a dispute over loud music.1 He died in his friend's arms. The shooter, Michael David Dunn, has pleaded "Not Guilty" and is expected to invoke Florida's "Shoot First" law, claiming the killing was a justifiable homicide.2

Nearly 33,000 ColorOfChange members took action earlier this year and told their state government officials to fight back against "Shoot First" laws. Please add your voice today and when you do, ask your friends and f...

"Shoot First" laws, sometimes called "Stand Your Ground" laws, were thrust into the national spotlight following the killing of Trayvon Martin. Unless these laws are repealed, our communities will continue to lose our young people to avoidable tragedies.

"Stand Your Ground" laws have proliferated around the country thanks to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and its deep-pocketed supporters at the National Rifle Association (NRA). Half of the members of Florida's "Stand Your Ground" task force, charged with reviewing the state's law in the aftermath of the Martin killing, are ALEC members.3 Unsurprisingly, that task force recently found no problem with "Stand Your Ground" despite clear and compelling evidence that the law is racially discriminatory. "Homicides involving white shooters and Black victims are 11 times more likely to be deemed "justifiable" than those where the scenario is reversed."4

Below is our original outreach calling on state government officials to oppose "Shoot First" laws where they are under consideration and repeal them where they are in place. Join nearly 33,000 ColorOfChange members and fight back today.

My dog Lily was wrongfully killed by a police officer. Now I'm call...
Sign Cindy's Petition

On May 26th, 2012, my husband and I lost our lovable border collie Lily when she was shot and killed on our front porch by a police officer responding to a call at the wrong address. My husband told the approaching officer to wait while he put our dogs inside -- but instead the officer shot "the dog closest to him." After she was killed, our lives changed forever.

Lily's needless killing is unfortunately one of many dog shootings by untrained police officersacross the country this year.

We started a petition on Change.org when Lily was shot -- and our city's police department enacted an eight-hour mandatory animal training for its officers. But we don't want other dog owners in Texas to go through the same horrifying experience of seeing their beloved animal shot and killed in front of them, so we're asking for the entire state of Texas to make animal traini...
