This Memorial Day, come support the Iraq Veterans Against the War who just participated in a historic action returning their War on Terror Medals to NATO. Hear from participants of the action, Vietnam Veterans and Gulf War era Veterans. This will be a remembrance ceremony of friends and family lost in past and current military conflicts.

There are still dozens of people held in jail in Chicago after the NATO protests.  In addition, the police bloodied upwards of 90 people on Sunday, according to the National Lawyers Guild's Sarah Gelsamino.

For all the great work that the National Lawyers Guild does, raising bail is not something that they can legally do for their clients.  That is up to individuals and organizations not legally representing the imprisoned.
An ad hoc group of CANG8 activists has announced a fundraiser at:
Carey's Lounge, 2251 W. Devon Avenue, Sunday night beginning at 8 PM Suggested donation:  $10 - no one turned away for inability to pay

All funds raised will go directly to those whom the Guild is able to identify as people who, as friends and family members, are trying to raise bail funds for their loved ones.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be one of the most exciting days in the history of this union. Well over 4,000 members have pledged to attend the rally via our online RSVP page. We know of hundreds of supporters who will attend the outdoor rally at the northeast corner of Michigan and Congress. Below are some logistical details that will help you enjoy a smoothly run event.

• WEAR YOUR CTU RED!
• Parents, students, and other allies are welcome at the outdoor rally.
• Members will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Bus captains will receive tickets upon arrival. Those not on buses get tickets at the door. Click here for information on bus orders.
• To be admitted to the theater you must have a union card or a paystub showing dues withdrawal.
• Buses will drop members off on Wabash between Van Buren & Congress and pick up in the same place after the march.
• WEAR YOUR CTU RED!
• Represent your school with your own sign for in the theater and on the march.
• For special mobility needs or American Sign Language interpretation, enter at 431 S. Wabash.
• CTU apparel will be sold in the theater lobby.
• It will be important to march after the rally. Wear comfortable shoes.

Yesterday the police clubbed peaceful protesters.  We shouldn't have to put up with that.  We need to train for our mutual defense.  Contact Brother Joe for further information.

Yesterday in Chicago we took to the streets for humanity and the planet! Watch video. As Obama met with Afghan president Karzai and told the world that "hard days are ahead in Afghanistan" we gathered with thousands in downtown Chicago in opposition to the war criminals meeting.

Protesters, Clergy, Community to Remember Victims of U.S. / NATO Wars Monday, May 21  12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Trinity Episcopal Church 125 E. 26th St., Chicago

A day after U.S. veterans threw away service medals over a fence toward the NATO Summit, members of the wider community will gather to memorialize people killed in the U.S. occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and the U.S. drone attacks on Pakistan and Yemen.  In support of the protest of NATO, Trinity Church has opened its lawn to expressions of grief and remembrance.

"While billion dollar deals to continue U.S. and NATO presence in Afghanistan and Pakistan are discussed behind closed doors, we're putting the stories and images of the individual people, and families, harmed by these military actions," said Debra Sweet.
Local clergy, members of the international community, and protesters who marched Sunday will gather to emphasize their commitment to ending the wars, and focusing on the humanity of those who are often seen as "collateral damage" in modern wars.
