The social network for trade unionists - a LabourStart project.

Here's an interesting idea that is being developed down in New Zealand... a (kind of) union run by unions: http://newunionism.wordpress.com/2011/07/26/together/

Thanks Peter for sharing this. It looks like a pioneer experiment of social network unionism which is initiated directly by unions. I think it is an important and very brave but necessary development for union movement if they want to turn the tide. Here in the Netherlands largest trade unions have also been trying out with similar experiments, by utilising comparable social network sites, yet setting much clear and further distance from the core 'businesses'; as organizing, training, and collective bargaining. Sure that it will be a painful process but forward steps -for renewal- should also include self-organising, self-training, self-representation mechanisms in parallel to opening up of the collective bargaining and decision making. In my opinion, it is essential also for making #Real Democracy a reality, Now! :)
