Lifehacker - THE blog for people who want to get things done -- tips and downloads that will make your more effective at what you do.

Toodledo - online to-do list organizer. Synchronizes nicely with several apps on the iPad/iPhone/iPod touch and probably other smartphones and PDAs.,

Toggl - time tracking that works. Very useful if you're working with several employers or projects.

Inbox Zero - Yes, it is possible to empty your inbox. Articles by Merlin Mann. I found these very helpful.

Getting things done - the official website for personal productivity guru David Allen. Allen's book of the same title has become a cult classic.

And don't forget to watch out for "productivity porn" :)

Thanks Eric. Toodledo was just what I was looking for. It should help keep my currently garbled notes and ideas a little more organised.

CivicCRM - I've heard good things about them. Open Source, free, customizable. Good luck!

This group could be really helpful for persons new to online activism in support of their grass-root work!

Sally,

You need to set up your touch to "sync" with your Google Calendar. I put a link below, but basically, what you will do is:

  1. Click "Settings" on your touch.
  2. Choose "Mail, Contacts, Calendar".
  3. Choose "Add Account"
  4. Choose "Gmail"
  5. Fill in the details on the next page (name, address, password, description).
  6. Click "next" (the touch will check the settings).
  7. Select the Google services (Mail, Calendar, and Contacts) you want to sync. NB - You can sync your Gmail mail to your touch too!
  8. Done.

If it isn't working, let me know (it's been a while since I set mine up). These two links might help too:

i've transferred some stuff on to my touch, trouble is i havent got the settings right for the thing to automatically update on the laptop.  any ideas please

Sally,

The only drawback to the touch is that it's not as versatile for re-occurring meetings. It will let you set up "Once a month" or "once a week", but if you need to enter "Every 3rd Wednesday", then logging into the Google Calendar seems to be the only way to do that.

what a great idea, i have a gmail account so presumably i have a calender.  my husband has just bought me an i pod touch for christmas so I'm presuming again that i can do exactly what you have suggested.  I'm dreadful for double booking at certain times of the year.  I also have lots going on and this idea is great.  I also have a filofax which allows me to write stuff down and also to slip bits of paper i.e notes which i made elsewhere into it.  The touch allows you to do all these thing.  great idea.
