Information

Industrial Workers of the World

The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

That's alright Dave was just checking in case you were in the wrong group. A lot of people keep calling us "International Workers of the World" after all. Good to have you on board. There's a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/iwwlist/?ref=ts&fref=ts should you need specific assistance or tips too.

Hi Rhys,

I joined the BIWW. I know about the unfortunate kerfuffle with the IWGB.

Sunday morning initialism error. Sorry for the confusion!

@ Dave, Welcome, but I'm a little confused do you mean you joined the British Industrial Workers of the World or the Industrial Workers of Great Britain?

Comment by Dave Plummer on April 28, 2013 at 9:44

Hi folks,

I'm a PCS (Public and Commercial Services) union rep in the UK. I joined the IWWGB yesterday after getting rather irked by all the calls for the TUC to call a general strike, and after seeing what the (now sadly split) London Cleaners Branch achieved last year.

I thought I'd say hello.

Hello!

Employees of Large Ticket Distributor Join Together and Demand Recognition

Grand Rapids, MI - Employees of Star Tickets have "walked on the boss" today demanding a reduction in workload, an employee grievance procedure, and recognition of their union. The employees have formed the IWW Star Tickets Workers Union for mutual support and respect on the job. Their intentions are to begin collective bargaining with owner, Jack Krasula, over a work environment that they say has become untenable.

“We are just exercising our legal right to form a union for our mutual benefit” said Deirdre Cunningham, a Client Services Representative. “We have been meeting, assisting one another, and acting as a union for some time so today we made it official to our boss."

Star Tickets, which is located at 620 Century Avenue Southwest #300, becomes the second Grand Rapids establishment whose workers have joined the Industrial Workers of the World labor union in just over a year. Workers at Bartertown Diner, 6 Jefferson St., all joined the IWW in 2011.

“During my time here Mr. Krasula has routinely sent us his insights and anecdotes for success. We hope that he will respect our choice and work with us in affecting the context of our daily lives ” said Alisa Stone.

The Industrial Workers of the World is a rank-and-file labor union open to all workers. Gaining notoriety with the Starbucks Workers Union and the Jimmy Johns Workers Union the IWW has become the "go-to" union for workers not interested in the bureaucracy of "traditional" unions.

Industrial Workers of the World

A Cat and Mouse Game

How you can help striking German factory workers with a couple of clicks

Workers of Neupack Verpackungen GmbH - a German Manufacturer of wrapping materials with factories in Hamburg and Rotenburg - are on strike for better working conditions and a labor agreement. They complain about unequal and generally low wages and an arbitrary and disrespectful management style. Even though they struggle for many weeks now, the company’s proprietors show hardly any willingness to make concessions. They have hired foreign strikebreakers and attack the striking workers with disciplinary warnings, dismissals and offence reports.

The German IWW supports the workers’ cause and asks you to show them some international support as well.

We have prepared some pre-formulated and addressed e-mails, which can be generated with a mouse click. They go to selected customers of Neupack, political and economic representatives, some churches, a campaign site for fair food, a temp agency that has been accused of providing strike breakers, the press, some neighbours and of course to Neupack’s proprietors.

If you click on the provided buttons below ( o
n the website) the e-mails will be generated and all you have to do is to sign and send them off. You can of course change the content of the mails to personalize them if you like. It would be great if you added information from where you are writing.

(I was unable to post the entire message here due to the limitation on the size of comments.  Follow the link below to the Hamburg IWW's website for the full version and the links to the automated emails.)

@ Ben, you're welcome my friend I'm just glad this small way of helping to "spread the word" is useful to some. I keep adding stuff to it so you might want to check back from time to time. Or alternatively this thread where I post most of it.
