Industrial Workers of the World

The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

@Colin: please don't. IWW is horizontal and organized by industry. AFL-CIO is organized by trade, and top-down hierarchical.  They can't even stop one union from scabbing on another. Plus, they endorse political candidates for office, something the Wobblies don't do.

The IWW can be a useful tool for coordinating the entire workforce accross the different trade union boundaries.Think of the IWW as a tightly integrated version of AFL-CIO,NZCTU,etc.

PERSS  RELEASS

Tembagapura, 25 February 2012 .
West Papua -  Grasberg mine Freeport operational again disturbedwas not a result of his finished cases of post-strike.Grasberg mine worker spontaneity of action took place on February 23, 2012 where all the workers coming into the work area but only a standby does not perform work activities as usual. There are many cases that should be resolvedby the management of PT Freeport Indonesia newly elected and commissionedSupposed to return to work after the deal was done, the management of PT Freeport Indonesia should take a wise attitude to all matters relating to strikes "bleached", so that its future management and workers alike mining operations with good business ethics.

In a change of management structure of PT Freeport Indonesia announced by Mr.Richard C. Adkerson and Mr.JamesR. Moffett on January 17, 2012 did not have a positive impact on the change in working conditions.

Trade Union - SPSI PTFI

LETTER BY PUK SP KEP - SPSI PTFI

To . Mr.Richard C. Adkerson and Mr.James R. Moffett
Copy to :  Shareholder Freeport McMoran ( FCX ) and Investors in the Freeport Grasberg.

Dear Sirs,
In connection with the issuance of Internal Freeport (Interoffice Memorandum) dated 23 February 2012 which in essence is a 'termination' operations of the Company by reason of acts of intimidation and threats by members of the Trade Union of Employees and that too in a letter stating that the main priority is the safety of employees and will not run in the middle of operational situations where Management can not assure the safety and security for employees.

Concern regarding the letter of the acts of intimidation and threats by union members who are also employees / workers are not the fundamental thing to be a reason 'termination of operations' Company of the fact that small frictions in the field of post strikes are common wherever there but with the efforts in the harmonization program for the normalization of the Company's operations are still under way is one of the efforts being made, either by hand or by Freeport Management Trade Unions through the program 'Down the Field / TurLap' to give understanding to all workers in field in order to be able to forgive each other and accept each other and holding hands with one another to build and rebuild a harmonious industrial relations, dynamic and just with the spirit of reconciliation and family in the company that we love, these efforts continue to seriously conducted by the Trade Unions but we regret very much that the middle of this business trip management company would issue a letter to stop the company's internal operations with a highly discriminatory reasons and too subjective, if the operational companies should be stopped because of intimidation, security and life safety is not guaranteed (as Internal PTFI expressed in the letter is a top priority), then it should have been done since July of 2009 in which the human tragedy that claimed the lives of workers until the last tragedy of January 2012.

Shooting tragedy has claimed the lives of workers, and civil authorities, but it remains the Company's operations can take place normally, no cessation of operations carried out just as the present, thus the cessation of operations of the Company today is something very basic and not too muchthat only a certain group of intrigue or an attempt to discredit to the Union and its Members, including outside the company to create an opinion that the Union is the source of the commotion in the company today.

Therefore, through this letter with all Workers Union and its Member hereby calls for commitment as follows:

1That the Trade Unions and its members are ready to rebuild the company was to be the best to cooperate with any parties that have the same commitment for the welfare of workers and family and for the People and the Republic of Indonesia.

2That we will start the Operating Company within the time limit for achieving the best targets for the company that we love.

3That we hereby invite all parties to work together to continue the efforts to normalize Operating Company is a joint commitment to stop all disturbances and their sources for smooth normalization efforts, especially disorders of the Internal PTFI.

4That with this we also request that the Corporate Leadership, both in Freeport and Freeport McMoRan (FCX) to immediately take steps rescue operations of the Company and the Company to evaluate the performance of corporate management that has led to a prolonged conflict in industrial relations and to Re-structuring and Re-Orchart management company started from the level of Vice President (VP) to the lowest level that has made management of conflict around the working area of PT. Freeport Indonesia because it is inconsistent with the attempts of normalization as defined above since at this level or range that has been hostile to his subordinates to act or not to manusiakan workers so that all workers in all the accumulated disillusionment with the Department diluapkan Strike action and post-Strike at this time.

5
That the Re-structuring and Re-Orchart is intended to re-organize and develop a more harmonious industrial relations, dynamic and equitable in all areas of Operations PT. Freeport Indonesia for smooth operation and welfare of workers and companies as well as for the continued development keluaraganya Nations and the Republic of Indonesia.
Similarly, we convey our commitment to be followed up with the hope to continue to cooperate with the Company following the conclusion of a peace settlement by sticking to the spirit of reconciliation by the progress that we love this company and we enclose with this letter to the Workers List Management and Call Letters Our whole communities throughout the working area of
PT Freeport. Freeport Indonesia will we release any time soon, I hope this letter has made us sit the real problem without building public opinion to trust us.
