Event Description

Around the world, women and youth are rising up against the repression and empty promises of “change.”  From Egypt to Puerto Rico to Wisconsin, students and workers are taking their demands to the streets in the spirit of the women who marched on the first International Women’s Day in 1911.  Join a lively discussion of the need for female leadership in the struggle for full equality and liberation.

Speakers:

Sharon Lee De La Cruz – Public art artist; Bronx activist; Program Coordinator of W.O.M.E.N.

Jill Dowling – NY Committee to Stop FBI Repression; Central America solidarity and anti-war activist

Jocelyn Gill-Campbell – Organizational Coordinator, Domestic Workers United that won NYS Bill of Rights

Emily Woo Yamasaki – Radical Women; participant at National Women’s Encuentro in Argentina
